We took the opportunity of having a car to head over to the Dandenong mountain range for a nice day hike.<\/p>\n<p>We settled on a 6.7 kilometer loop hike that included Olinda Falls.\u00a0\u00a0 The book we have stated it might be &#8220;muddy after rain&#8221; &#8211; that was an understatement.\u00a0 We parked the car and immediately descended into the ferns.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.handelblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_1920.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-329\" src=\"http:\/\/www.handelblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_1920.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1920\" width=\"433\" height=\"577\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>About 2 kilometers later we were at Olinda falls.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.handelblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_1932.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-331\" src=\"http:\/\/www.handelblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_1932.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1932\" width=\"2160\" height=\"1620\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.handelblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_1934.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-327\" src=\"http:\/\/www.handelblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_1934.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1934\" width=\"1620\" height=\"2160\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After the falls, we continued along Olinda creek.\u00a0 Then, in typical Australian fashion, we were met with poorly marked trail conditions and made a guess as far as which way to go.\u00a0 Luckily we chose wisely.\u00a0 See below, isn&#8217;t the trail obvious?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.handelblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_1936.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-328\" src=\"http:\/\/www.handelblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_1936.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1936\" width=\"1069\" height=\"1426\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was amazing to be so close to the city (~50km) yet so isolated and alone.\u00a0 Not many others out bushwalking on a blustery winter day.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.handelblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_1929.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-330\" src=\"http:\/\/www.handelblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_1929.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1929\" width=\"470\" height=\"595\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After many weekends without a car, it was time to rent one for the grocery \/ Costco \/beer store chores.
