We’d planned to fly back to the US less than 2 weeks from now, but instead we’re staying put in Brisbane for the foreseeable future.\u00a0 So with some of my endless free time, I put together a few stats from our road trip and a final map showing our whole route.<\/p>\r\n

Distance Traveled: 17, 986 km \/ 11,176 mi<\/p>\r\n

Days on the road: 50<\/p>\r\n

Money spent on fuel: $2764.23 AUD \/ approx. $1720 USD<\/p>\r\n

Most expensive fuel: $2.119 AUD\/litre \/ approx. $5.07 USD\/gal<\/p>\r\n

Least expensive fuel: $1.129 AUD\/litre \/ approx. $2.70 USD\/gal<\/p>\r\n

Biggest overall\u00a0 expense: Lodging managed to beat out fuel – average cost\/night $72 AUD \/ $45.60 USD<\/p>\r\n

Nights camping: 15 (felt like a lot more!)<\/p>\r\n

PB&Js for lunch: 35 out of 50 lunches<\/p>\r\n

Restaurant meals: 15 (including 2 takeaway meals) out of 150 meals<\/p>\r\n

New animals seen in the wild: emus, camel, various lizards, reef shark (sadly, we’ve still only seen echidna and wombat as roadkill)<\/p>\r\n
